About Us:
Why We Started Future Innovators
Hey! We’re Salma Ali and Maya Rodriguez, seniors at Coronado High School, and the founders of the Future Innovators STEM Career Fair. We started this project because we both know how overwhelming it can be to figure out what you’re passionate about, especially at a young age. We wanted to create an event that makes STEM exciting, hands-on, and approachable for younger students in our community.

We’ve always loved the idea of helping others find their path. This fair gave us the chance to combine that with our interest in leadership and community involvement. We wanted to give middle school students a space to explore STEM careers by meeting real professionals and experiencing science and technology firsthand. The best part? Watching kids light up when they figure out something new or discover a field they didn’t even know existed.

Planning this event wasn’t easy, but it’s been an incredible learning experience for both of us. We had to do everything from reaching out to professionals and coordinating with schools to organizing volunteers and handling all the logistics. It’s definitely pushed us out of our comfort zones, but we’re so proud of how it came together.

Our goal is to make Future Innovators something that lasts—something that continues to inspire young students to dive into STEM and dream big. We hope this fair shows them that anyone can be a part of the future of science, tech, engineering, and math—because the next big idea could come from them.
